Begin Level II (Unarmed Security) Training

Level II (Unarmed Security Officer) training is required prior to registration in Texas. Top Gun Security Academy provides an approved online Level II course that satisfies the foundational training requirement under Texas regulations.

How We Operate

NTPD is structured. We run dispatch-supported operations, maintain reporting deliverables, and operate with chain-of-command supervision. Promotions are earned through performance, integrity, and leadership under policy.

Reporting Culture

Officers are expected to produce accurate, professional documentation: incident reports, daily logs, and weekly summaries as assigned. Your report is your credibility.

Unarmed Security Officer — Duties
  • Maintain professional, visible deterrence and enforce site policies within scope.
  • Access control, visitor management, and controlled entry support (as assigned).
  • Conduct patrols (foot/vehicle) and document observed issues, hazards, and violations.
  • De-escalate conflicts, intervene early, and notify dispatch/supervision per procedure.
  • Prepare incident reports and daily activity logs to NTPD documentation standards.
Armed Security Officer — Duties
  • All unarmed duties, with heightened responsibility for judgment, restraint, and policy compliance.
  • Maintain weapon discipline and follow all agency weapon handling and escalation standards.
  • High-risk posture response support, perimeter stabilization, and critical incident readiness.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and supervisors for any elevated incident activation.
  • Document all enforcement actions thoroughly and professionally.
Personal Protection Officer (PPO / Bodyguard) — Duties
  • Close protection operations, advance planning, and client movement security.
  • Threat mitigation posture: route planning, venue risk checks, and controlled positioning.
  • Maintain client confidentiality, professional conduct, and controlled communication.
  • Incident response, emergency coordination, and protective evacuation planning when needed.
  • After-action documentation and operational summaries as required.
Private Investigator (PI) — Duties
  • Case intake, scope definition, and lawful investigative planning under licensed authority.
  • Evidence documentation, timeline building, and professional case reporting.
  • Surveillance support and information gathering within lawful and ethical boundaries.
  • Client communication, status updates, and deliverable preparation.
  • Maintain chain-of-custody practices where applicable and preserve documentation integrity.
Recruiting & Training Officer (RTO) — Duties
  • Recruitment support, applicant screening coordination, and onboarding readiness checks.
  • Training delivery support: policy, post orders, report writing, communication, and de-escalation.
  • Evaluate field readiness, identify gaps, and recommend remedial training plans.
  • Maintain training records, compliance documentation, and performance feedback loops.
  • Mentor developing officers and support standardization across shifts and sites.
Sergeant — Duties
  • Direct field supervision: ensure policy compliance, post order enforcement, and professionalism.
  • Quality control on documentation: verify accuracy of reports/logs and correct deficiencies.
  • Handle escalations, coordinate with dispatch, and stabilize incidents until relieved by command staff.
  • Coach and counsel officers; recommend corrective action when standards are not met.
  • Maintain operational readiness, shift accountability, and client satisfaction through performance.
Background, Training & Licensing Requirements (Overview)
  • Professional eligibility: must be able to meet Texas licensing requirements applicable to the role.
  • Background screening: subject to background review consistent with agency policy and client needs.
  • Training: completion of NTPD onboarding, policy training, and post-specific instruction prior to assignment.
  • Documentation standards: ability to write clear, factual reports is required for all field roles.
  • Licensing alignment: roles may require active registration/licensure under Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1702 (role-dependent).

Specific licensing and training requirements vary by role and assignment. NTPD will advise qualified applicants on the appropriate pathway.

Reporting Deliverables (What We Expect Internally)
  • Incident reports with professional narratives and documented actions taken.
  • Daily activity logs (patrol/post), timestamps, and observations.
  • Weekly summaries (as assigned) highlighting recurring issues and recommendations.
Command Position Policy (No External Applications)

NTPD does not accept external applications for command positions. Command leadership is earned internally through performance, integrity, and verified supervisory competency within NTPD standards.

  • Lieutenant — Service Area Supervisor
  • Staff Sergeant — Professional Responsibility Supervisor
  • Second Lieutenant — Public Affairs Supervisor
  • Deputy Commander — Regional Service Supervisor
